Learning Outcome #5
"Demonstrate an understanding of global diversity and individuality."
This outcome centers on appreciating and respecting cultural, ethnic, and societal diversity worldwide. Emerson students cultivate an understanding of diverse perspectives, values, and experiences, fostering inclusivity, respect, and empathy towards individuals from varied backgrounds. This emphasis promotes a more inclusive and equitable approach to global communication and interaction, recognizing the interconnectedness of humanity.
During my time at the castle, I enrolled in the course "European History, Culture, and Art." This course expanded my understanding of global communications and cultural dynamics. Specifically, we explored the differing perspectives on sex work and prostitution between the Netherlands and the US. In my paper, I analyzed the policies surrounding prostitution in the Netherlands, reflecting on the cultural disparities between the two nations. This project underscores my grasp of global diversity and individuality, highlighting how cultural differences contribute to the uniqueness of each society.
